Vice President Joe Biden says today's college graduates are well-positioned to lead America in the 21st century.

Biden spoke Monday at the University of Pennsylvania's commencement ceremony in Philadelphia.

He says graduates shouldn't listen to cynics who say the U.S. is in decline.

Biden says this is the most competent, capable and caring generation that the nation has ever produced.

The ceremony was also attended by Oscar-winning actor Denzel Washington, whose son Malcom was receiving a degree in film studies.
