A Wilmington man has been hospitalized after a Friday car accident in Edgemoor that left traffic snarled for about two hours.

State police say Ondera Johnson was driving on East Lea Boulevard and failed to stop at the intersection of Gov. Printz Boulevard.

Johnson then struck the trailer of an 18-wheeler on Governor Printz, causing his car to catch fire.

The truck driver and a passer-by were able to put out the flames.

Johnson was taken to Christiana emergency room, where he's in serious condition.

Police say charges are pending against him.
