Blue Rocks to host All-Star Game in 2014
By Sean Greene

The Blue Rocks announced they will host the 2014 Carolina League vs. California League All-Star Game at Frawley Stadium.

Tuesday, June 14 is the scheduled date for the game which pits the top players in two of the three "High-A" leagues of Minor League Baseball against each other. The leagues have split the first 16 meetings 7-7-2.

The game will mark Wilmington's 4th chance to host an All-Star Game, and their second time with the Carolina vs. California format.

In 2002, David DeJesus, Ian Ferguson, Byron Gettis and Thomas Lora represented Wilmington in a 3-3 tie.

Wilmington also hosted Carolina League All-Star Games in 1994 and 1998. Their home division, the Northern, defeated the Southern Division in both contests.

Kyle Smith is the only Blue Rock listed on this year's Carolina League All-Star squad which will play the California League in San Jose on Tuesday night.
