Wilmington police issue summons to taxi drivers
By Associated Press

Wilmington officials say they're cracking down on taxi cabs that are illegally operating or breaking rules.

Police officers conducted inspections Wednesday that resulted in seven traffic summons for assorted violations. One illegally operating taxi was towed, along with two licensed taxis that had committed various infractions.

Officials say they also issued parking tickets to three taxis and arrested one driver who became irate and disorderly as his cab was towed.

Police say the state Division of Motor Vehicles has suspended operations of four taxi companies for violations.
