By Tom Lehman

Two Maryland men are dead after being struck by a jeep downstate.

It happened around 11:00 p.m. Friday night at Fenwick Island, where state troopers say Grant Kinkade and Robert Rust tried to cross Lighthouse Road east of Dukes Road.

As they walked from the north to south side of Lighthouse Road, they walked in front of a Jeep and were struck by the vehicle.

Kinkade was pronounced dead at the scene while Rust was airlifted to Christiana Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the jeep and his two passengers were unhurt.

Police closed down Lighthouse Road for four hours while troopers investigated and cleared the crash.
