Strong pitching performance from Chacin lifts Rockies over Phillies
Jhoulys Chacin came within an out of his second career shutout and the Colorado Rockies beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-2 Sunday.
Chacin gave up six hits, struck out three and didn't walk a batter. His 8 2-3 innings marked the longest outing by a Colorado starter this season.
Jimmy Rollins hit an RBI double with two outs in the Phillies' ninth and Ryan Howard followed with a single, finishing Chacin (5-3).
Rex Brothers got the final out for his second save of the season.
Wilin Rosario and Carlos Gonzalez homered for Colorado. The teams combined for 30 runs and 55 hits in splitting the first two games of the series, but pitchers dominated the finale at Coors Field.
