The suspect in a double shooting at a Newark motel has been arrested at another motel less than a mile away from the initial incident.

Police say Michael Cummings has been arrested for shooting a man and woman with whom he was acquainted in the parking lot behind America's Best Value Inn on South College Avenue Monday.

Cummings allegedly got into an argument with the victims shortly before he approached them in the parking lot, displayed a gun and then opened fire in their direction.

A bullet struck the man in the shoulder and grazed the woman. Both victims were released from the hospital later in the afternoon.

SWAT Teams from both Newark and University of Delaware police departments searched the motel Monday afternoon, but didn't find Cummings.

However, officers were able to identify Cumming as the suspect and he was arrested Friday at the Sleep Inn on the 600 block of South Colleve Avenue.
