Blue Rocks have no answer for Salem's hot start
By Sean Greene

Salem jumped ahead with two big opening innings, and then cruised to a 2nd half opening 9-2 victory over the Blue Rocks at Frawley Stadium Friday night.

The Red Sox immediately jumped in Wilmington starter Kellen Moen, starting with a leadoff triple by Henry Ramos. He later scored on an RBI single by Keury De La Cruz. De La Cruiz crossed home plate on a Moen wild pitch, and then Blake Swihart completed the scoring in the opening frame with an RBI single.

The 3-0 lead became 7-0 in the second, sparked by a leadoff home run by Nick Natoli, his first for the Red Sox. Stefan Welch added an RBI double, and he scored on a 2-run shot by Brandon Jacobs for the seven-run advantage.

Dennis Raben got Wilmington on the board in the bottom of the 2nd with his second home run of the season. The Blue Rocks wouldn't cross the plate again until the 8th when Jared Schlehuber drive in Lane Adams to finish the scoring.

Moen (1-1) earned his first loss by giving up seven runs (five earned) on eight hits in just 4 innings of work.

Miguel Pena (2-2) gave up one run on three hits in five innings for the victory.
