Heavy rains lead to flooding Friday and made for treacherous driving across in the mid-Atlantic region.

DelDOT is reporting flooded roads in Kent and Sussex counties and encouraging motorists to stay put for a while.

The National Weather Service says two to five inches of rain fell in some areas of the greater Washington D.C. area and more showers and chances of thunderstorms are possible.

The rain kept officials from setting two-way traffic on the westbound span of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge to ease Friday afternoon beach traffic congestion and highway officials warned of an eight mile delay approaching the bridge.

In Ocean City, Maryland, police officers helped people whose cars had stalled in standing water.
