Consumers cash in checks from Skechers over false claims
By Amy Cherry

More than 1,000 Delawareans will receive a refund from the popular shoe company, Skechers, due to false advertisement.

Delaware was part of a lawsuit with nearly all 50 states that sued Skechers for violation of deceptive trade practices by making false health-related claims about their athletic shoes.

The company suggested that persons who purchased their shoes could lose weight, burn calories, tone muscles, and overall improve fitness without any scientific evidence.

Delaware consumers began receiving payments last week, which will total more than 80-thousand-dollars statewide.
