VP Biden in Poland

Vice President Biden met with Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk today and secured a pledge for the country to host part of the Obama Administration's alternative missile defense shield.
Biden heralded the agreement, and the United States' relationship with Poland, at a
press conference following the meeting.
Tusk said Tuesday that Poland views the Obama administration's "new configuration"
for missile defense as "very interesting, necessary, and we are ready at the appropriate
scale to participate."
The Obama administration's reconfigured system would put the U.S. Navy's Standard
Missile-3 in Poland. The Pentagon says the anti-ballistic missile is the most technically
advanced and cost-effective way to counter Iran's anticipated arsenal.
The U.S. scrapped a Bush-era missile defense system that would have put 10 missile
interceptors in Poland and a radar base in the Czech Republic to intercept long-range
missiles.
