Funland on the Rehoboth Beach boardwalk will be shut down for the first time ever in August, aside from hurricanes.

The amusement park is closing for its founder's funeral in Hershey, PA.

The matriarch of the Funland family, Jean Fasnacht, died August 11, at age 84.

She and her husband, Al, opened the popular boardwalk icon in 1962.
