Kids win thanks to Blue Rocks and Highmark DE
By Carl Kanefsky

While there's no guaranty that the Blue Rocks will win when they take the field, some Delaware children with special needs will be winners.

As part of the "Ks for Kids" program, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Delaware, will donate $5,000 to the Exceptional Care for Children organization.

Highmark Delaware pledged $10 for every strikeout thrown by a Blue Rocks pitcher during home games this season, and as a result, the Newark based nonprofit, which cares for children deemed "medically fragile," gets five grand.

Since the “Ks for Kids” program began in 2006, Highmark Delaware has donated $40,000 to nonprofit organizations that promote good health among Delaware’s youth.
