Middletown rolls CR after big 3rd quarter

Highlights from Middletown's 41-6 win over Caesar Rodney.

A big third quarter helped top-ranked Middletown roll past Caesar Rodney 41-6 during a Friday night rematch of last postseason's semifinal game.

The Cavaliers (2-0) led at halftime 7-6, but exploded for four touchdowns during the third quarter to cement their lead over the Riders (0-2) whose only points came off the opening drive of the game.

Middletown QB Darius Wade threw three touchdown passes and also reached the endzone on a one-yard rush.

Chris Godwin received two of those touchdown passes, the first for 9 yards and second for 67 yards. He also rushed for a 5-yard touchdown late in the 2nd quarter.

Dennis Berger and James Reed also scored touchdowns for the Cavaliers.

CR's only touchdown came on a 24-yard pass in the first quarter thrown by QB Alexander Kemp. He connected with Seth Brosius to put the Riders up 6-0 after the opening drive.

Middletown improves to 2-0 and will play Charter on Friday.

Caesar Rodney drops to 0-2 and will look to rebound against Hodgson Vo Tech in week three.
