By Associated Press

The Delaware State Police say they've charged a Georgetown man with attempted murder after he stabbed his wife during a fight.

Troopers say the received a 911 call around 8 p.m. Sunday. The caller said 52-year-old Albert Norman had stabbed his wife. Troopers responded to the 12000 block of Seashore Highway and found Norman's wife had been stabbed multiple times in the upper torso. The woman, who is 37, was taken to a hospital where she underwent surgery. She is listed in serious but stable condition.

Troopers say Norman's wife and children told them the couple was talking about ending their relationship when Norman suddenly began stabbing his wife in the back. The children intervened and got their mother to a neighbor's home. Norman later turned himself in to officials.
