Wilmington police are searching for a 21-year-old man who's wanted for allegedly filing a false police report about a shooting that authorities say was self-inflicted.

Warrants have been issued for Michael Lovett, who police say was initially believed to be the victim in a Sept. 6 shooting in the area of 8th and N. Adams Streets.

However, police say no officers were called to that area for reports of shots fired and investigators have determined that Lovett's gunshot wound was self-inflicted.

Lovett's last known address is unknown but anyone with information about his whereabouts can call Det. Don Palmatary at (302) 576-3654 or the Wilmington Police Confidential Tip Line at (302) 576-3990.

Tips can also be submitted to Delaware CrimeStoppers at 1(800) TIP-3333 or online at www.tipsubmit.com.
