Wilmington police say a 12-year-old boy has been arrested in connection to a shooting that happened last week.

Police say the boy shot a 17-year-old boy in the leg during a Sept. 20 robbery on the 600 block of N. Van Buren Street.

The 12-year-old boy allegedly shot the victim and took his cellphone after a struggle.

Police identified the boy as the suspect and issued a warrant for his arrest before taking him into custody Wednesday night.

He faces firearm, robbery and assault charge and has been committed to the New Castle County Detention Center in lieu of $150,000 cash bail.
