Teen in critical condition after crash
By Michelle Provencher

One teen is in critical condition after a car careens into a telephone pole late Saturday night.

Police and EMS responded to the 2600 block of Old County Road in Newark after midnight and report a 17-year-old female victim was trapped in the passenger side of the vehicle.

New Castle County Police say after extricating the girl from the wreck, she was transported to Christiana Hospital where she remains in critical condition.

The driver, a 17-year-old male, was able to exit the car without help. He was not injured.

Investigators say the curve in the road caused the driver to lose control, and drugs or alcohol are not a contributing factor.

Both teens were wearing seatbelts.
