Charter School of Wilmington fired 20 aces as they swept their way to the Blue Hen Conference Volleyball Championship over St. Georges Wednesday night.
The Force wasted no time grabbing control, with five aces coming during a match-opening 17-2 run.
Olivia DiMaio and Jordan Schoeneberger each had a kill as the set finished out 25-8.
St. Georges worked their way into the match early in the second set, with Shayne Sullivan's kill knotting the set at 5-5.
It didn't last long however, as Elizabeth Marcin went on another long run, acing on 3 of her 6 serves on a run that pushed the advantage to 11-5. That set ended 25-15.
The score in the 3rd set would be the same, as Charter took time before match point to honor their lone senior in Schoeneberger, who then served the last point which ended on a kill by Taylor Regan.
Charter put 13 players into the stat sheet, with Schoeneberger getting 5 kills and 5 blocks in her last match on her home court, while Marcin ended with 8 of the 20 Force aces on the night.
Both teams are off to the state tournament Saturday. No. 5 Charter will face No. 12 Caesar Rodney at St. Mark's at 7pm, while No. 16 St. Georges faces No. 1 Padua at Polytech at 6pm.
