No. 11 Tower Hill advanced to its first ever DIAA Volleyball Championship game with a 3-2 victory over No. 10 Concord Thursday night.
The teams played four evenly contested sets with Tower Hill claiming the 1st and 4th frames 25-20, while Concord won the 2nd and 3rd 25-19 and 25-23.
The final set started with Tower Hill's Haley Yatzus picking up a pair of kills to put her team up 2-0.
She would then go to the line at 3-1, and proceed to fire 5 straight aces at the Raiders, boosting the advantage to 8-1.
On match point, she executed a back row set to Elizabeth Wuerstle, who used the Concord block to smack home the game winning spike in a 15-11 victory.
Wuerstle finished with 8 kills, 7 aces, and 31 assists, while Yatzus had 23 kills, 8 aces, and 10 digs.
Emily Panchak led Concord with 16 kills and 26 digs.
The Hillers will face No. 1 Padua for the DIAA Championship Monday at 6pm following Concord's consolation best-of-three battle with No. 4 St. Mark's at 5pm. Both games will be at Delaware's Bob Carpenter Center.
