Suspect flees after failed robbery attempt at store near Elsmere

State troopers are looking for the man who unsuccessfully tried to rob a store near Elsmere at knifepoint.

It happened at 3 p.m. on Wednesday in the El Gallito Mexican Store at 104 Maryland Avenue.

Police say a man entered the store and confronted a 44-year-old female employee.

The man demanded cash but fled after the employee refused to turn over money.

The suspect is described as white, 30 to 35 years old, about 5 feet 6 inches tall with an average build. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt at the time of the robbery.
