Cape Henlopen's Samantha Broadhurst scored two goals and assisted on a third as the Vikings advanced to the DIAA Field Hockey Championship with a 5-0 win over Polytech.
The two-time defending champions needed about 15 minutes to get on the scoreboard when Broadhurst deflected in Marlee McGinnis' shot from the side of the circle to make it 1-0.
McGinnis later joined a battle in front of the cage with 8 minutes to go in the half, firing a close-in shot past the keeper and giving Cape a 2-0 lead at the break.
It was Broadhurst's turn to try a long shot early in the 2nd half, which Allie Yeager tapped in after Polytech knocked it into the air.
Broadhurst scored her second goal of the evening with 10 minutes remaining on a quick right-left move that juked the goaltender, and then Alexis Gooch finished the scoring on a last-minute penalty stroke.
Cape advances to face rival Delmar Saturday afternoon for the Delaware state title.
