Wilmington Police say people with cell phones are being targeted by crooks pulling snatch and grabs at several locations around the city.

Police spokesman Corporal Mark Ivey says criminals spotting people immersed in their cell phones are moving in.

"Make sure you're taking the time to look up from your cell phone to scan the area, see if anyone is approaching you. Keep one of your ear buds out of at least one ear, that way you can hear if someone's approaching you quickly.
You Should treat your cell phone like you treat cash."

Ivey says if you own an Apple phone you should download the new operating system which in effect, prevents criminals from using it if it is stolen.
