The winners of this year's WDEL Hometown Christmas Carol Contest have been announced.

Cab Calloway School of the Arts takes home the big prize among all the area high schools.

Their beautiful vocal rendition of Hallelujah Chorus got them $500, a brand new HD video camera, and surprise gift - a new keyboard. Damala Haire was ecstatic.

"Ya know what?! I ain't even gonna sit here and lie. I feel great. This is wonderful!" Choral Director Margie Eldreth says all their hard work paid off.

"We practice every day, and we usually don't take any days off. I'm a little mean that way, but we usually rehearse every single solitary day."

Other winners include Elks Neck Elementary in Elkton, Maryland and H.B. du Pont Middle School in Hockessin.
