Delmarva Power warns customers about Green Dot scam
By Gianna Banner

During the holiday season, Delmarva Power is reminding people of a "Green Dot" scam.

Delmarva Power says scammers are telling business owners that the location's electric service account is past due and will be shutoff unless a business purchases a "Green Dot Money Pack".

Scammers obtain the victim's card account numbers and pins. After the scammer receives card ID information, money is stolen and transactions are untraceable.

Delmarva Power reminds home and business owners to practice safety when someone claiming to represent a business contacts them either in person or by telephone.

Delmarva Power advises customers to ask for official photo identification from any person who shows up at their door.
