A day after Wilmington Mayor Dennis Williams threatened to make changes atop the city police
department, a resolution is being readied for Thursday's city council meeting asking the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to look at the surge in gun violence.

The resolution is mentioned in the agenda for the meeting. It asks for a study to be conducted by the CDC targeting gun violence among young African Americans in Wilmington.

The resolution calls the situation a pandemic and requests the CDC to examine what's happening as part of its charge to protect the country from health and safety threats.
