State police have identified the woman who was killed after being hit by a car while trying to cross Pulaski Highway in Bear Thursday night.

State police say 44-year-old Donna Potter of Bear was crossing the westbound lanes of the highway near Oriole Avenue shortly after 8 p.m. when she was hit by a car.

Potter was taken to Christiana Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police say she was not wearing reflective clothing nor in a crosswalk at the time of the crash.

A dog that was also struck was taken to a local veterinarian to receive treatment. The driver of the vehicle, 23-year-old Kelly Borgia of New Castle, was not injured. No charges have been filed in the crash.
