A sobriety checkpoint is scheduled to happen in Newark New Year's Eve, the Office of Highway Safety says.

The agency says people should avoid driving buzzed or drunk, and says three people were killed and 54 were injured in alcohol-related crashes in Delaware during the holiday season.

Ninety six people have lost their lives on Delaware roadways in 92 fatal traffic crashes, according to OHS. At the same time last year, 106 people were killed in 101 fatal traffic crashes.
