Oregon City's Jessica Gertz and Cierra Walker each hit six 3-pointers in a 60-48 victory over Ursuline at the Diamond State Classic Friday night.
Walker, a sophomore, hit three 3's in the opening quarter to counter 4 from Ursuline's Adrianna Hahn as the Pioneers led 19-16 after the first eight minutes.
While Hahn hit just one more 3 the rest of the way en route to 21 points, Gertz and Walker were just getting warmed up as they each hit a late triple in the half to turn a 1-point game into a 36-29 lead at the break.
The distance duo each hit a pair of long-range shots in the 3rd period, but Ursuline remained in shouting range at 50-41 thanks to 3's from Hahn and Kailyn Kampert (13 points).
In the end Oregon City was able to get the ball inside a bit more in the 4th quarter, getting layups from Taylor Shaw and Katie Kammerer to help put the game away.
Gertz, who is destined for Long Beach State next year, finished with a game-high 23 points while Walker scored 20.
Oregon City will face McDonogh (MD), a 44-34 winner over Wilson (PA) Sunday at 7:30 in the St. Francis Healthcare Cup semifinals. Ursuline will face Wilson at 12:30 in a consolation semifinal.
