New Castle County seal.
New Castle County Executive Tom Gordon has issued an order to remove questions about criminal conviction history from applications for non-uniformed employment applications.

Gordon signed the order on Tuesday, according to a county spokesman.

In lieu of questions about criminal conviction history, the county will only conduct background checks on job applicants who have received a conditional offer of employment for a non-uniformed position.

Former Wilmington Mayor Jim Baker issued a similar order in 2012, and the State House passed a bill that would "Ban the Box" for state jobs.
