Ursuline raced out to a commanding 30-2 first quarter lead on their way to a comfortable 55-28 triumph at rival St. Mark's Friday night.
The Raiders came out red-hot from behind the arc, hitting 8 threes in the opening eight minutes, including 4 by sharpshooter Adrianna Hahn. Laura Hurff, Maggie Connoly, Alyssa Irons, and Kailyn Kampert also hit from long-range in the opening quarter.
While their shots were falling, Ursuline's defense also made it tough for St. Mark's to simply get the ball across the mid-court stripe, as the Raiders made several steals, and held their opponents to just two free-throws in the first quarter.
Ursuline scored the first two points of the 2nd quarter before Kaitlyn Wolff's basket at the 4:35 mark of the quarter finally gave St. Mark's their first field goal of the game. Irons would hit back to back threes to make it 38-4, the largest lead of the game as the Raiders allowed their bench to pick up some experience against the Spartans' defense.
Hahn finished with 14 points, Irons with 11, and Hurff with 10 for Ursuline, who improved to 11-3 on the year.
Wolff's 9 paced St. Mark's, who dropped to 6-7.
