Man killed in hit and run
By Michelle Provencher

A pedestrian is killed in a hit and run accident early Saturday morning in Wilmington.

City Police say a preliminary investigation shows the 57-year-old male victim left a house on the 1700 block of West 2nd Street around 1:30 a.m. when he fell down in the road. Investigators suspect he may have been drinking.

Police say an oncoming pick-up truck hit the victim and drove away.

Officers report performing CPR on the victim before taking him to Christiana Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The victim's identity has not yet been released pending the notification of kin.

The pick-up is described as red with a stripe running the length of the truck.

Wilmington Police encourage the driver to come forward.

The investigation is ongoing.
