The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the region at 5 a.m. Monday lasting until 5 p.m.

The storm is expected to hit overnight.

AccuWeather meteorologist Dean Devore says the snow will affect the morning commute.

"We're going to look at some rain changing over to snow, and some pretty decent snow tomorrow morning. General accumulations of 2 to 4 inches, we could see more to the north. We're going to have to keep an eye on it, but it could be pretty messy during the morning commute tomorrow," says Devore.

Devore says freezing temperatures will make roads hazardous for the evening commute and overnight driving.

When does it end?

"Probably mid-afternoon, and then we'll see cold temperatures Monday night into Tuesday with slick spots. And we've got another system coming midweek, that one though looks like it's all rain for us Tuesday into Wednesday," Devore says.

He says yet another system with a mix of rain and snow is possible for Friday.

DelDOT is preparing for Monday's weather. DelDOT's Jim Westhoff says crew members will be reporting at 3 a.m. and getting to work by 4 a.m. in New Castle County.

While the snow is expected to hit the hardest around 7:00 a.m., Westhoff says plans may be adjusted if the forecast changes, or if we receive more or less snow than anticipated.
