A Wilmington man accidentally shoots himself in the leg.

Police say Jeffrey Lewandowski, 44, and two unidentified women were in a room at the Fairview Inn on South Market Street when the accident occurred.

Lewandowski was allegedly spinning a .22 caliber revolver around his hand when it suddenly went off, shooting one round into his leg. He was transported to Christiana Hospital with minor injuries.

Further police investigations reveal that Lewandowski is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a firearm.

After he is medically cleared, police say they will charge Lewandowski with possession of a firearm after conviction for a violent felony and two counts of reckless endangerment in the first degree.
