This winter is 5th snowiest in Wilmington's history

This is one of the snowiest winters on-record for Wilmington.

"From Washington to Philadelphia to New York, and even Boston, we're in the top five of snowfall totals on record" said AccuWeather's Dr. Joe Sobel.

Sobel tells us two cities that have it much worse.

"When you go back to Detroit and Chicago, they're closing in on number one for all-time snowiest winters, so this really has been an exceptional winter in the northern and northeastern parts of the U.S.," said Sobel.

The snowiest winter on record for Wilmington was 2010 -- the year that brought twin snowstorms that dropped several feet of snow on the area.
