Allison Lewis scored 23 points on her senior night as Sanford defeated Hodgson 73-41 in non-conference girls basketball Monday night.
After a pre-game ceremony honoring the seven Sanford seniors, Lewis quickly set the tone by forcing steals on back-to-back Hodgson possessions and converting them into a pair of layups and a 4-0 lead.
Hodgson would take their only lead of the night at 8-7, only to have Shauntel Williams connect on a three-pointer to put the Warriors back on top. Sanford led 17-12 after the first quarter.
After Hodgson's Dynasty Williams brought Hodgson within two with a conventional three-point play to open the 2nd quarter, Hodgson took control with an extended 16-8 run to lead 33-23 at the half.
A 10-0 Sanford run would bridge the two halves, sparked by a Lewis drive through all five Silver Eagles defenders to bring the game to 39-23.
Hodgson's Wynter McLaughlin capped of a 7-2 response with a three-pointer to get the game back to 11, but they could never get the game back into single digits.
Sanford (18-1) scored the first 13 points of the 4th quarter to put the game away and claim their 16th straight victory. Lewis' 23 points were augmented by Shauntel Williams and Chrishyanah Alston who each netted 12.
Despite the loss, Hodgson's Dynasty Williams scored 15 points as her Silver Eagles wrapped up a fine regular season with a 16-4 record.
Sanford hosts top-ranked Ursuline Wednesday at 4pm in their regular season finale.
