Padua's Emma Matthews scored 24 points in a 56-40 first round win Tuesday night against Woodbridge.
The Pandas were down early before soaring back to take a 17-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. Padua's defense forced many turnovers leading to easy points during this run.
In the second, Woodbridge fought back as Altia Anderson and senior, Alana Frisby led the charge bringing them within five at the half. Anderson ended the game with 16 points while Frisby netted 10 for the Blue Raiders.
Woodbridge would kick off the second half with a fighter's spirit when a Maya Maddox's bucket gave them their first lead of the game 29-28.
But Matthews and the Panda defense would prove to be too much as they went on a 14-0 run to end the third quarter and go on to only give up 11 points to end the game and take a 56-40 win.
Hannah Schlegel and Teresa Highberger also chipped in 6 points in the win.
Padua will move on to face #5 Milford Thursday at 7pm.
