The City of Newark is mixing sand with salt in anticipation of a snow storm that starts on Sunday.

Previously, the city said it only had enough salt left to cover one more big winter storm.

Tim Filasky with Newark's public works department tells NBC 10 that all the snow is exhausting more than just the salt supplies.

"The guys are tired, everybody's tired of the snow and I'm sure the residents are tired of driving through it," Filasky says.

The city says sand will help improve traction but won't melt salt and often gets stuck in salt spreaders.

At last word, Newark won't receive another shipment of road salt until March 7.
