UD discontinues winter commencement
By Amy Cherry

The University of Delaware will put an end to winter commencement.

The decision comes after the school says just 20 percent of eligible students walked in the January ceremony.

The winter commencement typically recognizes students who finished their degrees during the summer or fall semesters. They will now be eligible to participate in the May graduation along with students who are near completion of their degrees.

The school says it will also look at ways to change the spring commencement to make it more memorable and celebratory.
