Del. Senators on DADT repeal
By LeAnne Matlach

Senator's Tom Carper and Chris Coons praise the Senate's vote to repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."

Carper, a retired Navy Captain and Vietnam War Veteran says repeal will not happen overnight but the proposal will empower Secretary Gates to carefully implement a repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" in the months ahead.

Coons says he is proud to stand as on the 65 Senators to vote to end the policy. He says sexual orientation is not a choice, but discrimination is.

The Senate voted 65 to 31 to repeal the long-held ban on gays openly serving in the military.
