DNREC: Del. City Refinery releasing more chemicals
By Amy Cherry

For the second time this week, DNREC reports the Delaware City Refinery is releasing pollutants into the air.

The state environmental agency says the facility released 500 pounds of sulfur dioxide, a chemical considered hazardous by the EPA.

DNREC says Friday morning's release was caused by a process safety valve lifting.

The PBF refinery on Wrangle Hill Road allegedly released an unknown amount of chemicals into the air Wednesday night following a power outage the plant.
