Ogletown man arrested for alleged rape

A 54-year-old Ogletown man has been charged with rape, police said.

James Simmers, who lives on the 100 block of Lynch Farm Drive in Todd Estates, faces sexual assault and indecent exposure charges.

New Castle County police were called to the block about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday for a report that a woman was sexually assaulted.

Simmers was identified as a suspect and officers took him into custody at his home without incident, police said.

He was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $41,000 cash bail and issued a no contact order.
