State Police are investigating a shooting that happened during an attempted robbery in Edgemoor.

The call came in around 10 p.m. Thursday night from a passenger in a moving vehicle in Claymont. The caller told police he had been shot.

Police weren't able to find the vehicle. Shortly after, troopers were called to the Days Inn at 202 and Naamans Road. They found a 47-year-old man from Pottsville, Pa., suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower body. The man told police he was at Edgemoor Liquors on Governor Printz Boulevard when two men walked up and demanded money. When the man didn't hand it over, he was shot. The man then got back into the vehicle and called 911 while he was driven from the scene.

The State Police helicopter landed in the nearby Barnes and Noble Parking lot to take the victim to the hospital. His injuries aren't life-threatening.
