Man shot in Wilmington's West Center City area

A 24-year-old man was sent to the hospital after being shot in the leg on Wilmington's West Center City area on Monday, police said.

It happened about 6:25 p.m. in the area of West Fifth and North Madison streets near the William "Hicks" Anderson Community Center.

Officers responding to a 911 call for shots fired found the man, who was suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg, police said.

The victim was taken to Christiana Hospital, where his condition was unknown, police said.

No suspect information was provided by police Monday night.
