A late night crash leaves a Newark motorcyclist dead.

Shortly after 10 o'clock Saturday night, 25 year-old Jose Lopez-Medina was riding eastbound on East Chestnut Hill Road.

He struck the side of an SUV while making a left turn into the Augusta Square Shopping Center from the westbound lanes, police say.

Lopez-Medina was thrown from the motorcycle. He wasn't wearing a helmet, according to police.

He was taken to Christiana Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The accident investigation continues.

No charges have been filed against the driver of the SUV.
