2 arrested in burglary at George Read Middle School

Troopers arrest two burglars at the George Read Middle School in New Castle.

Police responded to a burglary alarm at the school on East Basin Road at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday. A trooper walking around the exterior of the building saw two men inside. Both immediately ran out of the building.

Both were caught after a short chase. 21-year-old Manuel Marshall of New Castle was allegedly found to be in possession of a small bag of marijuana. A
Police say a 17-year-old from Wilmington was caught with four pairs of stolen headphones.

Troopers determined that the pair entered the school through an unsecured window.

Both were charged with burglary and related offenses. Marshall was released after posting $6,000 secured bail. The 17-year-old was released on $8,750 unsecured bail.
