UD baseball falls at Hofstra
By Sean Greene

Delaware baseball couldn't hold on to an early lead and fell to Hofstra 3-2 in a road CAA battle Friday afternoon.

E.J. Stoltzfus and Zach Lopes each drove in runs in the 3rd inning for the early 2-0 advantage.

Hofstra (15-13, 3-4 CAA) tied the game in the 6th inning after a run-scoring double steal and Kenny Jackson's RBI single. The game winning run came an inning later when Delaware's Dan Gatto uncorked a wild pitch to allow Ryan Donovan to score.

Delaware had a chance to tie in the 9th, but Jack Clark was stranded 90 feet away at 3rd base.

Dan Gatto pitched a complete game for Delaware (15-19, 3-6 CAA), but dropped his 6th game by allowing the 3 runs over 8 innings. He struck out 9 in his second complete-game loss of the season.
