Caravel's Brittany Ford launched a solo home run to center field in the 9th inning to give the Buccanears a 5-4 victory at the Charter School of Wilmington Thursday afternoon.
The Bucs put together three runs in the 1st inning including an RBI single by Chloe Kennedy, but the Force were not deterred.
Lindsay Johnson drove home a run with a single in the 2nd to bring the game to 3-1, but then Michalla Redick's RBI single stretched Caravel's advantage back to 4-1.
Charter quickly responded in the bottom of the 3rd with two more runs including an RBI grounder by Emily Smith.
Pitchers Meghan Cowan (Charter) and Holly Brooks (Caravel) kept the game there until the bottom of the 7th inning, when the Forece had their last at-bat of regulation.
Jordan Schoeneberger drew a 1-out walk, took second after a hit by pitch, and then scored on Smith's RBI single up the middle to tie the game.
Ford then was fooled by a Cowan changeup to start her 9th inning at-bat, but then connected on the next pitch to send Caravel to victory two days after they lost at Laurel in 9 innings.
Caravel's (6-3) Kiera Swank, Brooks, and Chloe Kennedy each picked up a pair of hits.
Erin Anderson, Alexus Johnson, and Schoeneberger each had two hits for Charter (7-1).
