Bethany Beach bans e-cigarettes
By Kelli Steele

E-cigarettes are banned in Bethany Beach.

Smoking regular cigarettes has already been banned on the beach, boardwalk and in parks in Bethany since 2008.

Vice Mayor Jack Gordon says e-cigarettes have made enforcing the current smoking ban difficult; he says unless you actually walk up to someone and look closely, you don't know whether someone is smoking a cigarette or an electronic cigarette.

The latest ban in Bethany follows a decision last Thursday by the FDA to regulate the billion dollar e-cigarette industry for the first time. The FDA wants to make it illegal for anyone under the age of 18 to buy E-Cigarettes. It also wants to remove them from vending machines in public places.
