Pedestrian struck by car on Philly Pike

A man crossing Philadelphia Pike during Saturday night's rain storm is in critical condition after being hit by a car.

It happened around 9 p.m.. Police say a Claymont man was driving south near Pennsylvania Avenue when when he stuck a pedestrian.

That pedestrian, John Cleaver of Newark, was crossing in the middle of the block.

Cleaver was taken to Christiana Medical Center, where he was admitted in critical condition.

Green, the driver, faces DUI and motor vehicle violations and is awaiting bail.
